Yummy!

A fond childhood memory I have is going to visit my dad where ever he was stationed at the time. Places my sister and I visited him included; California, Hawaii, Michigan and Virginia. We spent countless hours at amusement parks, water parks, museums and the beach. I even remember the occacional "double feature" at the movies. For those of you that don't know what that means it's probably best that you don't. I guess you could say it's similar to BOGO at a shoe store... Any ways the fondest memories I have of my dad was the time we spent in the kitchen. He could take anything and I mean anything and make it into an amazing dish! I like to think my culinary talents come from him and my creativeness from my mother. All of that to say, last night I found myself cooking dinner with not a lot to work with. The grocery store was not an option, this whole one paycheck a month is killing me. FYI teachers get paid monthy, the last working day of the month in most cases. Scrambling to pull off something I created a master piece. Ingredients included: whole wheat pasta, zucchini, squash, mushrooms, onions, Roma tomatoes, lemon, talapia, garlic salt, olive oil and Catalina dressing. I guess you could say I had a "dad" moment...

  1. The double features were always fun. Don't forget they included a free refill on the popcorn. Creating a meal from just what's in the kitchen is challenging. The fun part is making something that you can call your own and pass it on for generations like some things I cook that were your Great Grandmas traditions. It's funny you mentioned it because just yesterday your sister Crystal asked me for my Singapore noodle recipe. I bet your creation was yummy.
